On 26 July 2025, the Oke Crew joined forces with the Kopuarahi School whānau to build their very own outdoor classroom in a single day, thanks to funding from Fonterra, the Ngatea Lions, and the Lou and Iris Fisher Trust. The project brought in a 4m Morrifield tunnelhouse, Birdies raised beds filled with Daltons mix, a tool shed, fruit trees, and a PAKU Education Kete, creating a space where tamariki can learn everything from fractions to soil science outside the four walls of a classroom. On the day, volunteers from the Lions rolled up their sleeves alongside parents, teachers, and kids, turning shovels of soil into a vibrant learning hub that will keep growing wellbeing, connection, and pride in the Kopuarahi community.
