Upper Harbour Primary School Working Bee

Upper Harbour Primary School Working Bee

Working Bee #76 at Upper Harbour Primary School kicked off before we’d even picked up a shovel. Friday deliveries from Daltons and Gary’s Garden Sheds had the kids buzzing, setting the tone for what was coming. Massive shout to caretaker Tony as well, who got stuck in early and assembled the Birdies beds ahead of time, saving a heap of hours and giving us a proper head start heading into Saturday.

By early Saturday morning, the Oke Crew rolled in, coffee doing its job, and got everything set up. Once the community arrived, it was full noise. Twelve Birdies beds installed (still no small job getting them into place, levelled, filled with Daltons mix, and even a cheeky mission into the local bush for green waste), a Morrifield tunnel house assembled, and fruit trees planted to build out a space that’s going to keep giving for years.

The turnout from the Upper Harbour community was unreal. Whānau, staff, and kids all getting stuck in, backed by a classic sausage sizzle keeping everyone fuelled. Another working bee done right. Good people, doing good mahi, and a school now set up for the long haul.
