Working Bee #83 took us to Stonefields School on Thursday 3 September, where the Oke crew, tamariki, parents and volunteers from Fletcher Living came together to breathe new life into the school’s existing garden.
The project began with a pre-working bee to clear the site, followed by an Oke working bee and then a community working bee. Together, everyone installed 20 new Birdies raised beds and brought in the gear needed to get the garden growing again.
The Fletcher Living volunteers got stuck in alongside the school community, helping turn the refreshed space into somewhere tamariki can grow food, learn outdoors and connect with nature.
A huge thank you to Auckland Council’s Ōrākei Local Board for funding the project, Fletcher Living for bringing a great team of volunteers and everyone at Stonefields School who helped make Working Bee #83 happen.
