Working Bee #84 took us to Ohinewai School on Saturday 12 September for an awesome community working bee, with tamariki and whānau turning out in force to help transform the school garden.
Families and volunteers worked alongside the Oke crew to install 14 new Birdies raised beds, plant fruit trees and natives, and bring a new tunnelhouse into the space. A new shed was also installed. There were plenty of hands, plenty of energy and a great sausage sizzle to keep everyone going.
By the end of the day, Ohinewai had a refreshed garden ready for tamariki to grow, learn and spend time together outdoors. A huge thank you to the Glenice and John Gallagher Foundation and Waikato Farmers Trust for funding the project, and to everyone at Ohinewai School who helped make Working Bee #84 happen.
