Tāmaki School Working Bee

On Saturday 21st September 2024, Oke celebrated its 50th Working Bee at Tāmaki Primary. What an amazing day it was as well. Our awesome Chief Go-Getter had quite the project on her hands, as this was a complete renovation job. The old garden needed to be removed and new Oke outdoor classroom installed. We were joined by an army of epic volunteers which included the Oke Board, Fisher & Paykel Appliances Crew, Alice from the Gut Foundation, Karen representing 10×10 who helped fund this build, the ever dependable Lee Family and of course the Tāmaki School Community. A lot of the old timber beds were rotten but the timber which was salvaged was turned into a compost bin by Matt and Katie Lee. A tunnel house was installed, fruit trees were planted and lots of mulch was shifted to cover the ground of the new outdoor classroom. And to top things off, Fletcher Living provided a BBQ for the event. A big thanks to 10×10 and Auckland Council for funding this milestone.
This Oke Outdoor Classroom is dedicated to Jason Husband.
