Waterview School Working Bee

Some builds are big. Some builds are complex. And then there are builds like Waterview.

This one took serious coordination. Led by our Chief Go Getter Michelle, this project brought together EnviroSchools and Healthy Waters at Auckland Council, along with an incredible group of partners; Hynds, Kerry Drainage, Ezy Traffic Management, and our amazing suppliers, all aligned around one goal: creating a space the school could use every single day.

Because this wasn’t just about putting in a few garden beds. This was about building something that works long-term. Stormwater solutions, infrastructure, and growing spaces all came together to turn an underused area into a functional outdoor classroom that supports learning, wellbeing, and environmental understanding.

And like all Oke projects, it didn’t happen for the school. It happened with them. The Waterview community showed up, staff, whānau, and volunteers, all getting stuck in and building something they now own. That’s what makes these spaces different. Not just the end result, but how they come together.

A huge shout out to Michelle for pulling all of this togethe, this build is a perfect example of what happens when the right people are brought together and a plan is turned into something real.

Thanks to everyone involved, our partners, suppliers, and the wider community, for making this one happen. It shows what’s possible when everyone gets on the same page and gets it done.
